A trip down south

Left the week before Thanksgiving heading down to see my mom for the holiday. Spent two nights camping in the Daniel Boone national forest in Kentucky. Had nice weather until the third day when it started raining so I headed down to Smoky Mountain National park.It cleared up when I got there and the scenery was awesome. Saw some elks and other wildlife, that is one big park so I camped a night there under a million stars. The next day I headed over to Maggie Valley and enjoyed the Wheels Through Time motor cycle museum. Everyone who works there are so nice and friendly. Since Ashville is only forty minutes away I went over to the Biltmor. The weather was great so I had a good time walking around the estate inside and out.So back to Maggie Valley where I stayed the night in a hotel. We had a couple of inches of snow as I left on my way over to Blue ridge GA. Cute town, got a haircut and walked around. Ten minutes out of town is the bigfoot museum so I had to stop. I wouldn’t drive out of my way to see it but it was worth the price of admission. Then off to see Amy and Eric in Alpharetta. Had a good visit and stayed the night. Next day was a seven hour drive to Florida to see my mom and brothers. The weather down there was perfect. The first day down there Wes rented a pontoon boat and he, my mom and I went out on the water for a few hours and grabbed some lunch. Went walking and swimming every day. Took mom up to ST. Augustine for a day and walked around. After Florida I left for Savannah GA. Hadn’t been there in thirty years so I was glad to go back, it’s such a cool city. Walked nine miles taking it in. The next day I went to Greer SC to the BMW museum. I wasn’t too impressed. Then over to Cary NC to see Jim and Lisa. Jim took me around Cary to show me the downtown area and later on the three of us went out to diner, had a great time. Left at four the next morning to head home. The roads were icy over by Winston Salem so I had to sit in a traffic jam for two and a half hours. Fortunately that was the only traffic snag I had on the whole trip. Not sure how many miles I drove but it was probably close to 3000. Glad I went.
